General Awareness
This training is designed for supervisors, forepersons, site managers and frontline site representatives that influence those working on commercial construction sites.
Competency Standard
This program is non-accredited and does not result in a unit of competency. Participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
Prerequisites
Students must be able to speak and understand basic English to communicate to a level to perform their duties.
Learning Outcomes
1. Improve understanding of union and employer rights of entry and obligations under the Fair Work Act 2009.
2. Develop an understanding of the importance of effective IR management and negotiation skills.
3. Receive practical advice on how to apply skills and knowledge, when exposed to challenges and confronting personalities.
Course Objectives
Understand how to apply the law and its interpretation to control access to and ensure safe and legal entry onto commercial and civil construction sites;
Gain strategies to minimise the occurrence and severity of potential disputes and disruptions to productivity;
Develop a greater understanding of the relevant right of entry legislation and its application;
Receive advice on record keeping and evidence gathering and practical site considerations;
Use relevant industry resources to identify and check the validity of entry permits;
Learn about noncompliance and potential pitfalls using real life examples
