Course Objectives
Equip technicians to inspect, test and repair fire/smoke control features in mechanical services systems (eg fire/smoke/air dampers, exit pressurisation, system shutdowns) in line with AS 1851, AS 1668 and the BCA.
Embed WHS/OHS risk controls and compliant work practices throughout inspections, tests and servicing.
Build capability to plan and execute routine service programs, including interpreting drawings/baseline data, scheduling personnel, and selecting tools/instruments.
Develop competence to identify/report defects and recommend rectification timeframes and solutions.
Ensure graduates can complete and sign off documentation (checklists, logs, condition reports) and submit records to building managers/owners within required timeframes.
