currently work in the HVAC industry in a relevant field and hold either of the following units:
CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (and hold a White Card),
or
MEM13015 Work safely in manufacturing and engineering
Learning Outcomes
1.Identify the types of fire, smoke and air dampers, their functionality and installation requirements, and set out and install fire, smoke and air dampers
2. Correctly install fire, smoke and air dampers with precision
3. Test and rectify any defects in the installation of fire, smoke and air dampers
4. Complete work-related documents and records and adhere to safety protocols
5. Manage potential fire risks across a range of ventilation systems in accordance with the Australian Standards AS 1682 - Parts 1 and 2.
6. Interpret legislation, standards and codes, and plan and organise work activities following WHS requirements.
Course Objectives
1.Install, test, and maintain fire, smoke, and air dampers in compliance with Australian Standards (AS1682.1 and AS1682.2) and industry best practices.
2. Address critical compliance gaps in HVAC systems to ensure installations meet fire safety codes and regulations.
3. Provide structured training on planning, safe work practices, defect rectification, and adherence to fire safety standards.
4. Leverage BIM technologies to simulate real-world scenarios, enhancing practical competencies and installation accuracy.
5. Promote safety, efficiency, and compliance in mechanical services, contributing to improved building safety outcomes.
6. Foster a culture of accountability and compliance among tradespeople to reduce installation defects and improve building safety standards.
