What is a letter of offer for employment?
It is a document which provides evidence in writing that an employer or Group Training Organisation has offered to employ you at a future date.
The letter should include the following:
- Employer's business/organisation name (eg. XYZ Construction, or HIA Group Training)
- Employer's full name and position within the organisation (eg. Barry Humphries, Site Supervisor)
- Employer's ABN (Australian Business Number). An ABN is a unique 11 digit number that identifies your employer to the government and community. You can search for your employer's ABN.
- The role that you will be employed as, eg; apprentice electrician.
- The date you will start your apprenticeship.
Alternatively, your employer can complete the on-line Employer Verification form to verify the apprenticeship opportunity.
The letter of offer must be for employment as apprentice/trainee in an eligible CITB qualification.
Do I have to book all ten lessons?
No. There are simply up to 10 hours of lessons available for you. Some people need more lessons than others. We recommend booking the first five lessons initially, and then booking additional lessons if you need to.
Will there be an instructor available in my area?
We are confident that there will either be an RAA instructor or similarly accredited instructor in your area who can provide driver training. You might need to jump online to find out where and who they are. Once you’ve found one, just let us know their contact details. You can do this by calling us on 8172 9500 or sending us an email. A list of CITB preferred driving instructors are listed on our website.
Do I need my own car?
No, you don’t. However, you may need access to a car to practice your driving between lessons to increase your hours.
Do I still need to pay for my final test?
Yes, you do. Career Driven funding funds up to 10 hours of driving lessons but it does not cover the cost of the final test required for you to gain your Provisional Licence.
