Commencement Incentives$
National Skills Needs List commencement incentive, Federal Government
  • Per apprentice undertaking a Certificate III or IV qualification on the National Skills Needs List^.
  • Add $750 per apprentice recommencing the apprenticeship.

  • Per apprentice undertaking a Certificate III or IV qualification leading to a non-priority occupation.
  • Add $750 per apprentice recommencing the apprenticeship.

Equipped for Work, Government of SA
  • Reimbursement for essential equipment or services when hiring an apprentice.

Boosting Apprenticeship Commencements (COVID-19 initiative), Federal Government
  • Wage subsidy per apprentice available from 5/10/20 to 30/9/21, $7k per quarter (calculated here on 3 quarters).
  • Backdating is not available.

  • Reduced charge-out rate of $200 per week, over 6 months.

^National skills shortage occupations include airconditioning & refrigeration mechanic, bricklayer, cabinetmaker, carpenter, carpenter & joiner, electrician, fibrous plasterer, gasfitter, glazier, joiner, painting trades, plumber (general), roof plumber, roof tiler, solid plasterer, stonemason, and wall & floor tiler. Apprentices can be full-time or part-time.
