Recruiting Apprentices

Build your business with an apprentice or trainee and discover CITB incentives.

Recruiting Apprentices

There are two ways in which a business can hire an apprentice or trainee: through direct employment or hosting. Either way, CITB can support you with funding for apprentice or trainee on and off the job training.

1. Direct Employment:

Hire an apprentice/trainee directly and be responsible for paying wages, superannuation, and entitlements etc. You as the employer will need to be registered with Skills SA and establish a formal training contract through an Apprentice Connect Australia provider.

For further information on CITB funding and your responsibility as an employer please visit the following links.

Next Steps:

Contact an Apprentice Connect Australia Provider to get started. They connect apprentices and trainees with employers and support you throughout the apprenticeship process. See below for details.

2. Hosting through a Group Training Organisation:

Alternatively, apprentices and trainees can be hosted through a Group Training Organisation (GTO). The GTO manages all aspects of recruitment, training, paperwork, and legal requirements.

If you are hiring an apprentice/trainee through a GTO the funding will be passed on to you through a reduced hourly rate or in a lump sum payment (depending on the type of funding).

Next Steps:

To explore this option, you can contact a GTO from the following links.

CITB acknowledges Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and recognises the continuing connection to lands, waters, communities, and cultures.
